His Hands On Africa's 2nd annual Run for the One 5K/10K Event is taking place on Saturday, May 21.
This fundraiser was created last year after a patient from a village 14 miles away was transported to our main clinic in Kigali for complications from a preventable oral disease that never got treated. Tragically, she and her unborn child didn't survive the trip, passing before she could be treated by one of our doctors. Her death was totally preventable if she had access to dental care that many of us take for granted.
With generous support from all of our donors last year, we raised $50,000 to build TWO satellite clinics, one of which will be in her village. This year, we are aiming to raise another $50,000 to fully equip and staff the two satellite clinics.
